Cheeseburger in a can?

Would you eat a cheeseburger from a can?

“Cheeseburgers in a can.   Can be taken on every trip but we not suggest you live of them!!  Easy to prepare by simply heating the tin in water, take the lid off and enjoy or alternatively heat up in the frying pan, too.    With juicy beef, tasty cheese, fried onions, cucumber, mustard and ketchup.

We have tasted these and they are edible, like most ready meals they are not as good as the real thing but if you are stuck on a hill somewhere or snowed in they will suffice.  They are not big enough on there own to be one meal, you will need either a couple or something else to go with it.  Enjoy! “

Burger365 for Skull Quilt Project

Here is my contribution to the Skull Quilt Project for Skull Appreciation Day mailed off today.  I reworked the image from the Burger365 – Oil Painting to include a human skull overlayed on top of the burger skull image. The finished quilts will be shown in a gallery with other skull artwork and sales will go towards a great charity. If you’re in Richmond from June 3rd to July 8th, be sure to check out the exhibition.

Skull Quilts.
curated by Skull-A-Day editor Abby Davis

These quilts will be auctioned off and all proceeds will be donated to DC charity Becky’s Fund, which helps survivors of domestic violence.

Super Pet ComboToy

Here’s a pretty interesting looking hamburger pet chew toy available on Petco.

“The combination of chewable wood and crispy loofa bites will keep your critter busy as can be. The burger shaped wood toy and fun-shaped loofa pieces are completely safe and help to maintain healthy teeth and gums for your pet.”

Cheeseburger Golf Club Cover

If you play golf and love cheeseburgers, then you better get this golf club cover.

Pair it up with the Burger365 Golf Ball, and you’ll be ready to rule the greens.

Are there rules against bringing actual burgers to eat on a golf course?

Jason Lee’s Burger Skateboard

There have been tons of great skateboard designs that parody existing logos throughout the years. Remember this one from 1991 for Jason Lee?

Burger King even sent a cease and desist letter for trademark infringement:

Cheeseburger Guitar Design

Ever get a craving for a cheeseburger while in the middle of a jam session? (Maybe you only play Rock Band/Guitar Hero like me, but that’ll work too.) What you need is a guitar that sports an opening for a burger, fries and even ketchup.

Burger365 Gallery 321-365

The final Burger365 Gallery 321-365  is now available. Make sure you check it out for days you may have missed or revisit your favorites. You can check out the rest of the galleries while you are at it as well! Thanks for all the great comments, love and support over the past year. Don’t worry, I will still be posting up burger stuff as well as other “Bonus Burger” artwork.

Introducing the Caliwood Design Lab

With the Burger365 project over, I thought I would take this time as well to introduce one of my next ventures with my “studio”, the Caliwood Design Lab. I will be producing various wood jewelry/figures/prints with the help of a nifty laser cutter. A few of these pieces will be up for sale on Etsy, like this robot inspired piece and bear skull inspired piece.

You’ve  seen some of the results of this machine within the Burger365 project, like the Wood SculptureLaser Engraved Woodprint and Dog Tags.

I have a bunch of other exciting ideas as well, so be sure to check out the site on Etsy for future products and updates.

Burger #365 – Cake

Let me eat cake!

The Burger365 project is complete! Let’s celebrate with a special “Burger Cake”, complete with actual hamburger topping. Of food items, the cake is probably the most popular item to be decorated like a hamburger, and we have seen many around the web. I definitely had to give it a shot, and thought it was a fitting way to celebrate the end. Hopefully this one “takes the cake” (*groan*). Now, who want’s a slice? Thanks again to J for helping me out with this one! You’re awesome.

So now what? I have just completed 365 “burgers” in 365 days. But, just because there are  no more “Burger365″ pieces to create, I will still continue use the burgers as a theme in my artwork.  There are still many other ideas that I was not able to get to, so when I finish those, they will become “Bonus Burgers”. Also, I will be working on “Burger365: Redux”, where I will recreate select existing Burger365 pieces and make them even better.

The Everything Burger website will still continue, as I will try to bring you fresh burger content from around the web (something I had focused less on as I got more involved with the project). Burgers are still everywhere, people keep eating them and there continues to be great burger related items all over the place. This project was my little contribution to that world.

What have I learned from completing a 365 daily project? Lots of things… from different art techniques and styles, to time management and focus. I tried to use different methods of art and mediums throughout the project to make sure everything was unique. I was able to learn such trades as cross stitch, latch hook, and other things that I would never have even thought of trying. I worked on my painting, drawing, and digital art techniques to make them better as well. One really needs to have dedication and will power to finish a project such as this, and I am definitely proud of what I have accomplished. There were many late nights up trying to perfect some of the pieces, but it was worth it. I look back over the year and sometimes I’m surprised about how fast it went by, yet other times it seems like so long ago. An artist always should strive to learn, evolve, and create as much as possible, and this project is definitely a good vehicle for that.

Thank you to everyone who was involved, everyone who contributed an idea or made a comment,  all the fans who checked out the site, etc. Even though this ultimately was a personal growth project, it’s nice to know people appreciate and like the things that I am doing. You all have helped in one way or another. I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have.

Thanks to my partner in “Art” crime Gary Lockwood aka Freehand Profit for starting his Mask365 project concurrently.  When Gary and I set out, I couldn’t imagine what we would go through, how the project would evolve for each of us respectively, and what we would accomplish. Make sure you check out his site and congratulate him for finishing too. His art and skill level is definitely above and beyond the normal realm of artists out there. There are big things coming for him and it is a honor to be able to watch his development. Congrats bro, we did it.

Big ups to Steve from Phusol Wear and Sebastian Bleak for the support and contributions you guys made. Looking forward to working with both of you for future projects.

Thanks to Noah Scalin, an originator of the “Daily 365 Project“, whose Skull-A-Day was the original inspiration. Hopefully I have upheld the ideals of the project. Your support and comments have been greatly appreciated.

Thanks to my mom who also contributed to this site and project with her clay sculpture burgers. It’s always nice to have support and love from family and friends. Keep up the great clay sculpture work.

A very special thank you shout out to my lovely girlfriend Janice(J), who first – gave me the Skull-A-Day book, which planted the idea of a daily project in my head, second – supported me along the way, sacrificing various time/events that we may have missed out on, third – helped out with many of the pieces, and fourth – modeled for and took some of the photos. Without her, the project would not have turned out as well as it did.  Plus, she actually likes burgers more than I do.

Check out what the talented BetsyEtsy sent Gary and me to congratulate us on finishing our projects:

OUR VERY OWN ACTION FIGURES!

Thanks Betsy! These lil’ guys are awesome. Thanks for your help with the project as well. (Photo blog 365, like Stormtroopers 365 next?)

“High Five!”

Well, that’s it for now, thanks again for all the love and support as I conclude this year long journey. Time for me to finally get some sleep. ([])

Burger #364 – Oil Painting

“That’s what a hamburger’s all about”

Based on an In-N-Out “Double Double”, here is an oil painting in the style of the classic “Skull & Crossbones” image. This is the first in a possible series of other fast food “Skull & Crossbones” designs. Only one “burger” left until the project is complete. Make sure you check back tomorrow and celebrate with me.
