Shepard Fairey Likes Burger365

Thanks to J, Shepard Fairey of Obey Giant has an “Obey Burger” sticker.  We were able to meet him at La Cita last night before he got on the turntables and rocked the party.  He seemed to dig the sticker (giving us some of his own) and was even gracious enough to snap a quick photo with me.

Burger #86 – Obey Style

Burger365 Has a Posse…

Here is my tribute to Shepard Fairey’s OBEY GIANT campaign which he called “an experiment in phenomenology.”  Unless you have been living under a rock, you have seen the iconic Andre the Giant image with the words “OBEY” underneath.  Although the campaign and Shepard’s artwork have been around for a while, he gained international fame for his Barack Obama Hope poster that coincided with the 2008 Presidential Election.  Still creating great work and featured in Bansky’s film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Shepard also runs the Subliminal Projects Art Gallery in Los Angeles.  The gallery always exhibits the freshest art around and you can sometimes catch Shepard there on the 1’s and 2’s.  The campaign has also spawned a successful clothing line that shows off all of his street style art.  For more information, check out the website at

Burger #64 – Spray Paint Stencil

Spray it, don’t say it…

Spray paint stencil art has been and continues to be a big artistic influence for me.  If you haven’t seen Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop, go check it out.   It’s a great documentary style film about the street art culture including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and Mr. Brainwash among others.
