What’s in a McDonald’s hamburger?

Have you ever wondered what kind of beef McDonald’s uses in their hamburger? What about the “pink slime” that was all over the news? Also, what’s up with the McRib?

In an effort to become more transparent with their consumers and provide heath awareness, McDonald’s started a campaign called “Our food. Your questions.” Throughout the campaign, anyone can ask McDonald’s questions concerning their products and they will respond. There are already a bunch of informative YouTube videos online (hosted by Grant Imahara from Mythbusters), that answer the questions so far.

Check out this one about what kind of beef they use:

Do you have questions you would like to ask McDonald’s? Have other comments or concerns regarding their products? Visit their campaign website here:

http://www.myinspirasian.com/html/english/OurFoodYourQuestions/index.html

OR feel free to contact us at Everything Burger and we will forward anything towards them! This is definitely a step in the right direction in spreading health awareness within the fast food industry. Campaigns like these should only help open dialogue between consumers and retailers to bolster the creation of healthier meal options.

Stormtrooper Burger

To celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th, 2013, Star Wars teamed up with Neff Headwear for an art gallery of customized Stormtrooper mini helmets. Artist Jackie Ma created this hamburger themed helmet creation – “Trooper Trooper w/ Cheese, Vader Taters, R2D2 Sweet Tea”. This all the customized helmets were really cool and hopefully photos of all will be online for those who missed out on the display, which only occurred for three days at the Robert Vargas Gallery in DTLA.

Bacon Insider Burger + Win a T-shirt & Gift Cards

Do you love bacon? Then you’ll probably want to try the Bacon Insider Burger from Jack in the Box. I was lucky to try one for free and was pleasantly “baconfied”. It features a juicy beef patty with savory bacon pieces mixed right in, sandwiched in-between six half slices of hickory smoked bacon, and topped with a creamy bacon mayo sauce. And if that’s not enough, you also get lettuce, tomato and American cheese- all severed on Jack in the Box’s new gourmet brioche bun. While my burger doesn’t look like the one from the commercials, it still was pretty good and likely a hit with bacon lovers.

As with other specials, Jack in the Box has released a cool promotional campaign for this burger with the fun interactive website. Make sure you stop by and play the “Bork Blaster” video game, where you play as “Bork” the Pig-Cow mascot, shooting bacon at regular burgers to change them into Bacon Insiders.

They also released a cool bacon burger themed t-shirt (which I got as well) and you can WIN one here along with $30 Jack Cash with this simple contest. Raindrops are shaped like hamburger buns

raindrop

Burgers really are everywhere. A new study finds that raindrops are shaped like hamburger buns, not tears as previously thought:

“The teardrop shape of a raindrop has been accepted as fact for generations and has even inspired songwriters over the years from Dee Clark to James Blunt.

But the American space agency has discovered that in reality raindrops are shaped rather like the rather more prosaic top of a hamburger bun, round at the top and flat at the bottom.”

Stopped by the Blackstone Gallery last night during the monthly Downtown Los Angeles Artwalk and checked out the “Fast Food Paintings” exhibit. Win a Jack Ca$h Gift Card from Jack in the Box!

Jack in the Box recently rolled out their new late night menu which features “Jack’s Munchie Meal“, available from 9pm to 5am. The boxed meal comes with your choice of one entree, two tacos, halfsies fries, and  a 20 oz. drink, all for only $6 (plus tax). When Jack in the Box (not him personally, unfortunately) reached out to us to try a couple of the meals (for free), we willingly accepted.

After 9pm, we rolled down to the nearest Jack in the Box and ordered the Brunch Burger meal and the Exploding Cheesy Chicken meal. The Brunch Burger sounds what you expect it to be, with a fried egg, hash brown, and bacon, on a croissant bun and it definitely hit the spot. The Cheesy Chicken is topped with mozzarella sticks and gooey white cheese sauce and is another tasty treat. Add the two tacos, the regular fries and curly fries, and drink and we were happily stuffed and satisfied. The boxes even feature some fun artwork and a “Spin the Taco” board game.

The other two meals (which we have yet to try) are a Stacked Grilled Cheeseburger (sourdough grilled cheese and burger combo) and the Loaded Nuggets (chicken nuggets covered with ranch and bacon). Will have to save those for another “late night foody call”.
